Where: Studio Gallery 1311, located at 1311 Market Street, La crosse, Wi
When: July 27-August 30, 2015. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 0900 hours until 1200 hours.
Instructor: Bob Witte is an award- winning watercolor painter who lives in La Crosse. he is largely self-taught but has studied with such notable watercolor masters as Charles Reid, Frank Eber, and Ted Nuttall. His philosophy is that anyone can become a decent painter by training to see rather than look, proper instruction and dedicated work. These classes will serve to start one down this rewarding pathway.
Curriculum: Basics such as materials and supplies, setting up one’s palette, learning proper brush handling and various brush strokes will be covered. A good foundation in seeing and drawing will be practiced and then translated into simple painting of objects. The important topics of local color, values, wet on dry, wet in wet, various washes, edge control, and glazing techniques will be covered. Several small projects utilizing still life, landscape, figure painting and simple portrait will be used to both illustrate the use of techniques but also leave the student with a framable painting. The last week will be devoted to a project entirely of the student’s choosing.
Cost/Registration: $200 for the entire series. a rate of $25/session will be charged for drop-in students. Contact Bob Witte (witte5730@aol.com, 608/386-1764). Class size will be limited to 8 students.
